Nice Weather Brings Out the Buyers

After a cold and quiet winter and early spring the real estate market is finally starting to heat up. Wish we could say the same about the weather…which may be one of the reasons the market has been slow to get active this year. Spring fever, which stirs the heart in matters of love and real estate, has been hiding behind a cloud of drizzling rain so far and will do wonders for both passions once the flowers and sunshine of May come shining through.

The Greater Vancouver Real Estate Board reports a 20% drop in sales for March 2008 over the same period last year but offers the encouraging fact that the benchmark price for a standard 3 bedroom 2 bath home across our board did rise 12% over the last year.

This number is probably a little lower on the coast as this survey takes into account all regions of the lower mainland.
